TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — Airmen, families and community organizations gathered for the Travis Chapel Fall Festival at Travis Air Force Base, California, Oct. 23, 2026. The event provided opportunities to build relationships, connect with support resources and strengthen ties between Team Travis and the surrounding community.

The festival brought together over 20 off-base faith groups and more than five on-base helping agencies. Representatives provided Airmen and families with opportunities to learn about available resources, explore faith communities and establish connections beyond their work centers.

“Having events available to meet people in a new environment can be very powerful, especially for first-term Airmen”, said U.S. Air Force Capt. Enrique Jackson, 60th Maintenance Group chaplain.

For Airmen arriving at their first duty station, establishing a sense of belonging can be an important part of adjusting to military life. The festival gave newer Airmen and their families an opportunity to meet people and learn about local organizations. They also became familiar with resources available through the chapel and its community partners.

Jackson emphasized that building connections can help reduce isolation among Airmen arriving at a new installation. He also highlighted the chapel’s role in introducing Airmen and their families to partner faith groups and available support services.

Beyond connecting attendees with resources, the festival provided a welcoming environment for Airmen and their families to interact with local organizations. U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Judith Duran Segura, 60th Air Mobility Wing religious affairs representative, highlighted the event’s value in helping Airmen build relationships with the community while spending time together.

“It’s [the festival] been a great opportunity for the Airmen to connect with the community, and it’s also really conducive to spiritual fitness for the Air Force overall,” Segura said.

In addition to connecting with faith groups and helping agencies, attendees enjoyed free food and time with their families, creating a welcoming environment for conversations between military members and community representatives.

By bringing together on- and off-base organizations, the Travis Chapel Fall Festival introduced Airmen to support networks they can turn to while at Travis AFB. These connections can foster a sense of belonging, support spiritual resilience and strengthen relationships between Team Travis and the surrounding community.

The festival highlighted the importance of building strong relationships between Airmen, their families and the surrounding community, reinforcing Team Travis’ commitment to connection, spiritual fitness and a supportive community.
