New Eden Prairie Restaurant the Hearth Throws ‘Shamrock and Roll’ Community Celebration
Eden Prairie's newest Scratch Kitchen Restaurant revives Tent Party as a rite of spring
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Hearth, Eden Prairie’s newest restaurant, is throwing a “Shamrock and Roll” party to celebrate two holidays on Saturday, March 14. The first one is Pi Day – also known as 3.14, and the second is St. Patrick’s Day.
To do the celebration up big, The Hearth will be installing a 4,000 square foot heated tent in their parking lot. The local band, Mallrats, will perform a 90s rock revival at 8:30 p.m. with the Cole Allen Band opening at 7:00 p.m. The party will feature entertainment all day including music, kids’ games, food, and of course what St. Pat’s tent party would be complete without
green beer?
The Hearth is the evolution of a popular southwest metro area pizza food truck, Rolling Hearth Bistro, which has been serving artisan-style, wood-fired pizza for the last dozen years at events like county fairs, community celebrations, wineries, breweries, and private parties like weddings, birthdays and graduation parties.
Tim Huinker, owner of The Hearth, explained that “We were asked at nearly every single event we catered, ‘Where’s your brick-and-mortar restaurant?’ We are finally able to tell them that yes, we have a restaurant.”
It all started when the Huinkers threw a high school graduation party for their daughter, Ashley. “Over 250 people attended her party. I was frantically making pizza for everyone in our back yard brick oven. We received so much positive feedback that within a year, we had our mobile pizza oven and were attending as many events that we could while also having real jobs,” Huinker said.
While the first four months of operating the restaurant has been a whirlwind, Huinker felt he needed to make a big splash — and what better way than with a big party. He said, “I wanted to do this for the community, to celebrate the arrival of spring, to thank everyone around here for coming in and trying our new restaurant, introduce ourselves to new people, and to raise some money for Erica and her son.” Huinker explained that one of his employees had to recently admit her young son to the hospital with a serious, but difficult to diagnose and treat illness. “We are trying to help Erica weather this storm any way we can,” Huinker went on to say.
The Hearth opened its doors only a few months ago in October 2025 in the iconic Woody’s location just off Shady Oak Road north of Highway 212 and south of Crosstown 62. Huinker said that “I recall that several restaurants and bars in the Twin Cities would host tent parties every year for St. Patrick’s Day. They were very popular events and so much fun! But it seems that tradition has kind of faded away. I wanted to bring it back, and we’re going to go for it!”
In addition to several food offerings at the event, The Hearth will be serving pizza from its mobile pizza oven. In fact, they’re going to offer a special Reuben Pizza for the event. “We are a scratch kitchen, and our head chef is in the process of corning beef brisket for the event. You won’t believe how good this pizza is!” The Hearth is known for its array of specialty and unique Creations Pizzas.
The Hearth is located at 6399 City West Parkway in Eden Prairie, Doors open for the tent party at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Tickets are only $10 in advance on the site Eventbrite. More information is available at TheHearth.us in the Events tab.
ATTENTION Reporters and Show Producers: The Hearth would be happy to arrange at no cost delivery of our St Patrick's Day special Reuben Pizza to your newsroom for you to samples. Morning Show and Weekend producers - the Hearth can transport its mobile wood-fired pizza oven to your studio for a pizza-making demonstration.
